The Language of Peace

I have a Christian faith. I know that ultimately, peace can only be found in Jesus Christ. But I applaud the countries, leaders and institutions that genuinely attempt to seek peace in a troubled world.

We were recently on holiday and met up with a group of Canadians. I was fascinated to find that they have a closer link to ‘English English’ than ‘American English’.  For example, they talk about ‘Generation Zed’, not ‘Generation Zee’. I was encouraged by this because right now the chief of warmongers are the United States, exemplified by an outspoken President who seems to believe his own lies. They speak a different language.

A collaboration of nations seeking peace is welcome. Countries that speak the same language. Ultimately that is what is behind the British Commonwealth, The European Union, and even NATO.

Who would have thought just a few years ago, that one of the most significant threats to peace in the world would become the United States. I welcome those who speak a different language; a language of peace.

And yes. It’s definitely ‘Generation Zed’! (Thanks to my Canadian friends for the catalyst for this post: Don and Anne, Don and Willa.)
