The Decline and Fall of the BBC

I love the BBC. It’s all I was allowed to watch as a child-
ITV had adverts and that was frowned upon in our house!

But the BBC today is a shadow of its former glory. Partly this
is to do with competition but partly it’s to do with an extreme liberal agenda.

I need to qualify my blog at this point…. Those that know me
will know that I am generally left wing, regularly vote Labour and have never
voted Tory.

There. That’s got that out of the way. Important to say
though as I may be judged to be a right wing Trump supporter in what I’m about
to say.

The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer commissioned a survey
carried out by pollsters Savanta ComRes. This identified that 49% of the
younger generation are praying regularly.

The BBC reported on this and then interviewed Muslims and
Hindus. Despite the fact that in covering a representative slice of the
population, the report mainly interviewed those leaning towards a Christian faith or no-faith.

But no mention of Christianity from the BBC. None at all. [The
link to the article is here- the on camera report was worse still!] No
interviews with church goers. Just Muslims and Hindus. The Muslim population in
the UK is around 6%. The Hindu population is around 2%. So, BBC, where are the
other 92%? Why did you ignore them?

The answer is not hard to find. The BBC is no longer the
unbiased bastion of broadcasting it once was. Did they invent ‘Woke’? Probably.

I love some of their left wing slant. I love their
inclusiveness. But to deliberately exclude Christianity on a poll that was
commissioned by Christians and shows that church going and prayer (in person and online) is
growing is appalling.

I laughed at their super inclusive Doctor Who stories at
first. Until it became so invasive, the plots no longer mattered.

But this is far more serious. This does matter. A good news
story about Christians has been buried. And the BBC appears to have done it
deliberately.

Maybe that licence fee I have defended for so long should no
longer be defended. Shame on you BBC.

  1. As with most of the diversity and inclusion agenda, it is a cloak for left to cover its bigotry. People are no longer valued as individuals, and certainly not as being created in the image of God, but are judged according to their identity groups. The BBC Sport webpage (the only remnant of the BBC I can abide) will always have at least one story overtly lauding someone solely because of their identity group, regardless of any sporting relevance. As with almost all MSM the BBC has been in the hands of the left for decades. It is interesting the author refers to Trump, who was feted by the media for almost two decades, until he ran for office. Overnight he was portrayed as fascist, racist (the favoured curse of the left), misogynistic, homophobic, and almost every other unpleasantness. Yet his record as the 45th POTUS was remarkable in what it did for the advancement of minorities, far exceeding the achievements of any other administration since Reagan. Needless to say, you'd never find reference to any of the factual stuff on the BBC, just plain, old fashioned, left wing bigotry.

  2. The BBC has been showing this extreme communist propaganda tilt for years and is really turning up the volume now. The BBC is a tentacle of the Pan European Division's original plan for the peoples of Europe, which is to change the European demographics to a corporate, communist work force, further pushed by the Marakesh treaty, The Barcelona Declaration etc. The idea is to completely remove the demographics of the European peoples, the individual countries histories, sovereignties and cultures. The last number of young males used to help bring this about mentioned in the Marakesh treaty i think was 89 million, to be brought to western Europe from African and Arab countries. Johns comment above hit the nail on the head in mentioning the corporate abandoning of God in favour of zero individualism and people judged according to their identity groups. It is an un natural and devious plan. It will Fail.

  3. Maybe The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer needs a more robust Press Office. When I directed communications for the Dioceses of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester and when I led press campaigns for national Christian organisations if it was our survey then we made sure we had our say. Comres have strict rules when it comes to what can be said about surveys, usually the organisation behind the survey gets the credit. So it appears that The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer needs a more robust Press Office.

  4. I think you are missing the point. The survey revealed that 49% of 18-35 year olds attend a place of worship at least once a month. There is no way that figure is made up of Christians. By far the highest proportion of 18-35 year olds attending worship are young Muslims and Hindus. Hence the interviews with them. If there was a higher proportion of young Christians attending worship, I’m sure they would have been interviewed.

  5. Dear Andrew

"In the 2011 Census, Christianity was the largest religion, with 33.2 million people (59.3 per cent of the population). The second largest religious group were Muslims with 2.7 million people (4.8 per cent of the population)." - you're trying to convince me that there are MORE Muslims and Hindus attending worship between 18-35 than Christians? How does that work then? There are more people attending church each week than mosques and temples.

Sorry Ralph but you do need deliverance from the idea that the left-wing is Christian (or even that the right-wing is Christian too!). The values of the kingdom are not the values of either Marxism/Socialism or Capitalism. However you will find Capitalism easier to defend from scripture.
